The sounds of hip-hop and classical violin combine to create the musical phenomenon Black Violin. The duo of Kev Marcus and Wil Baptiste rose to fame covering hip-hop songs on their violins. After winning Showtime at the Apollo, their unique sound became sought after by hit recording artists, including Alicia Keys, the Wu-Tang Clan, Kanye West, Tom Petty, and eventually President Barack Obama when the duo was asked to perform at the president’s second inauguration in 2013. The dynamic duo comes to the Jacobs Center to share their signature sound and hits from their new album Stereotypes.
Proceeds from the show go toward supporting performing arts and cultural events in Southeastern San Diego's Diamond Neighborhoods.
